If you have had problems in the past with paying your credit cards or have suffered a bankruptcy you can still find credit card companies that are willing to help you rebuild a poor credit history. Many not only offer you a credit card, but will also offer credit management links as part of the benefit of choosing their card. You may find some that will tell you your fico credit scores so you can see how you are doing toward rebuilding your credit. Some of these cards will be a prepaid credit card so you will have a preset spending limit. Whatever amount you send to the credit card company will be that limit. Once you have reached the preset limit you will need to send more money before you can use the card again. This can be advantageous because you can’t spend more money than you have and you will rebuild your credit at the same time. When you look for a prepaid card you need to be aware of the fees that can be incurred. The start up fee, the transaction fee, monthly fee and reload fee. These fees will differ between credit card companies. Also with prepaid credit cards some companies offer a waiver of these fees for direct deposit. If there is a transaction fee it usually a dollar per transaction. Prepaid credit cards are a way for you to control your spending.

If you prove responsible with your credit usage these cards will also review and periodically increase your credit limit. Many will have no upfront fees or they may charge a small yearly fee to have their card. These can range from nineteen dollars to forty-nine dollars a year for some that we have found online. Some cards even state that all applications are accepted when you apply thus helping people with poor credit history a chance. Certain cards will also report directly to the three credit reporting agencies which may help to improve your credit ratings.

The APR rates can vary from card to card the lowest we found was about 8.9% and as high as 22%. These can be daunting interest rates but if you use your credit wisely and pay on time the interest rate won’t be a problem. Remember with a poor credit history you want to get a credit card to help improve your history. These cards will have the Visa, Master Card logos that you are used to seeing and are from reputable banks.

Just because there are credit cards out there for a poor credit history, doesn’t mean it will be easy to qualify. You will still have to meet the qualifications that they put forth and it may take a while for you to find the perfect fit. Even if you are accepted for a card you don’t have to take the offer.
