Travel rewards that are offered by credit cards have been very popular since the first card was advertised.  We all want to save as much as we possibly can on the actual travel expenses as they can be quite a bit.  So credit card companies saw another opportunity to gather in more consumers.  If you are looking for a new card or just need something to help you with your travel expenses then you may want to look at the credit cards with travel rewards.  These cards will vary so it is very important that you look over every card offering travel rewards before you submit an application. 

The first difference in many of the credit cards with travel rewards is the type of rewards.  You see not all travel credit cards will pay for gas or driving expenses.  Some of the travel reward cards will only offer the rewards for flights.  Then there are the cards that include flights, hotel, rental card, and other discounts to help you with your travel expenses.  Depending on the type of travel you intend to do you will need to compare the cards.  The internet is a great place to compare because they tend to do the work for you, but you should note that not all sites will offer all the credit cards.  It is best to search an unbiased site as well as some of the major bank cards that you have heard about to get a well rounded look of the differences you will be able to find.

Barclay, Chase, Total, Orchard, Capital One, Discover and many others will offer credit cards with travel rewards.  There are even a few gas station cards like Texaco that offer travel rewards as well.  When you look for these cards there are three things to consider. 

First you should look at the interest rates and compare them.  You want to have the lowest interest rate as possible, but you also want to have the travel rewards that are most beneficial.  So the lower interest rate should be considered first, but don’t discount some of the cards just because of it.  You will need to look at the travel rewards next.  Do they allow for cash back, discounts or both?  Those cards that will offer both will be the best because you earn vouchers for cash back over the year, but throughout the year coupons for rental cars, hotels, and other discounts will be offered.  The last thing you should consider is the balance transfers.  Some of the credit cards offer points or miles towards flights when you transfer a balance on the card.  This is often the quickest way to earn points.  So when you find a card that offers the lowest interest rate, the best rewards, and rewards for balance transfers you should apply.  You will not always get the combination of three, but as long as you try you can succeed.  The other thing to consider is the fees associated with the cards and their terms and conditions.
