Credit Cards Airline Miles

Credit cards with airline miles are a little different than frequent flyer miles.  Frequent flyer miles are earned when you fly on a specific airline and when you fly a great deal.  The airline miles from credit cards are something you earn by using the card on several types of purchases.  You could get the miles for travel, restaurants, bookstore purchases, online purchases and others depending on the card.  We will look at a few of the cards available so that you understand what you want to look for regarding credit cards for airline miles.

The first card on the list is the Discover card.  You can book travel with this card at anytime with no blackout dates.  You will earn double miles when you purchase more than 3,000 dollars in travel and restaurant purchases a year.  This does not have to be a single purchase.  For every dollar on a purchase you spend you get one point or mile.  The points can be redeemed for travel or gifts depending on how you would like to work it.  There is no annual fee and you could have an interest rate as low as 10.99% depending on your credit.  If you have excellent credit you get the lower rate.  For good or less the rate is going to be higher or possibly a declined application depending on the credit history.

Capital One is another card with airline miles.  They offer 13.99% for excellent credit and no introductory option.  They allow 1.25 miles for every dollar on purchases.  There are no blackout dates or restrictions.  There is also no expiration on the miles you earn.  As you can already see between the two companies there are going to be differences.

For the Barclay airline miles card you earn a mile for every dollar and depending on the airline miles card you obtain you could earn miles for balance transfers.  This card tends to allow more airline miles for balance transfers than it does on specific purchases.  There are no annual fees.  You will discover introductory rates and they offer comparative annual percentage rates.

If you are not a big flyer than you may find these credit cards for airline miles are not the best cards out there for you.  It can take quite a bit of time for the earning of airline miles if you don’t fly a lot or use the card for big purchases.  They can be a good card to have for the rewards if the rewards do not expire.  So be aware of checking the fine print regarding your airline miles with the credit card.  There are more than a hundred different credit card options for airline miles.  As you can see some will offer double points or a little more mile for every dollar you spend.  The idea of these cards is to get as many rewards as fast as you can, with as little money.  You should practice correct credit card usage, however to stay out of debt.
