Credit Card Hacked
Fraud with credit cards has reached an all time high in many countries around the world. It is fact that many of the credit card scam rings are actually international gangs, which makes it doubly hard to catch anyone who has hacked into your credit card and used it for bad. The credit card companies are trying to implement more security for their consumers not only when they use it online or in stores, but also on their websites. Credit cards hacked is a topic in which the credit card scammers are actually hacking in to get your information through various ways.
The first way your credit cards can be hacked is with the ATM or card machine. The gangs implement a couple of different methods. They either have a false key pad or a camera looking at the numbers you are placing into the machine. The largest scam is switching out the credit card machine for a fake card reader that instead of sending the information to the credit card company will send it to a remote laptop that is near or store the information until the gang members decide to pick it up. This method of credit cards hacked is usually an inside job. The gang members take the information they get, download it on their computer and then create cloned cards.
The other method of credit cards hacked is the actually emails individuals receive. In this case the gang sends out an email looking like the bank. They usually had to hack into the bank or have someone on the inside passing information for email addresses. The email is going to ask you for personal information such as your name, bank account number in full, SSN, and other information that is pertinent to them stealing the use of the card. You should know that the banks will have that information and anything asking you to update your account is not going to be accurate. Banks do not ask you to update your bank account information for credit cards unless they are unable to reach you at your old address. In this case they tend to send out a letter to the address they have on file requesting that you give them a call with the number on your card, but they will not ask you to leave a message or send out an email.
Credit Cards that are hacked usually take time for the charges to appear. You may not know you have been hacked until it is too late and the charges have pretty much wiped out the use of the card. Luckily the banks realize what fraud is and offer you protection. There are some cases it is a little difficult such as being out of the country for an extended period of time and having the charges made during that trip. It is always best to apprise the company of where you are and to check your statement at least once a week to catch any miss use.
