Business Credit Card

Why would you want to have a business credit card?  There are plenty of benefits to having business cards.  The first advantage is the one you find in the tax section.  First when you have your own business you need to have a separate account for those expenses.  This can be a bank account or just a credit card. You can always have both.  During tax season you are able to take a deduction for the interest you paid to the credit card company for the charges you made pertaining to business in that year.  Sounds pretty great right?  It is, but there is more in relation to business credit cards and your reason for wanting them.

Business credit cards tend to have lower annual percentage rates, better rewards deals, and no annual fees.  These three options combined with zero fee balance transfer rates and zero percent introductory periods just make these cards the best thing that you could do for your business when you consider the tax reasons as well.

Advanta is just one of the credit card companies that offer Business Cards.  There credit card is a MasterCard.  This card has zero percent APR for fifteen months on balance transfers.  You will get a fixed 7.99% rate on balance transfers in the future.  The purchase rate is 7.99% variable, so it can fluctuate, but it is still lower than most personal cards.  You have a choice of 5% cash back or travel rewards.  Obviously the choice should be the one that will benefit your business the best.  There is no annual fee and no limit on earnings; so even a small company is able to get this card.

Citibank has a business credit card that is with MasterCard as well.  They offer a no fee rewards program.  You get 3 points for every dollar you spend at restaurants, gas stations, auto rentals, and certain office supply companies.  They also give you 1 point for all other purchases.  This is a dollar a point.  The points can be redeemed for air travel, gift cards, merchandise or your own idea of a reward.  They don’t have a balance transfer fee.  The introductory period is zero percent for nine months, no annual fee, no setup fee, and 11.99% APR after the period.

The American Express business gold is a little different than the above business cards.  It is typically for a larger business just because of certain things associated with it.  First they do not offer an introductory rate, but there is a reason for this.  They do not have an APR, instead every year you pay 125 dollars for the annual fee.  There is no set up fee.  You can earn 40,000 bonus points in one year for a roundtrip ticket, the points don’t have any expiration, and there is no limit to the points you earn.  If you sign up now they offer one year free membership, so no 125 dollar fee in the first 12 months.  So this card could actually be the best for your business if you want a flat rate in the year and not annual percentage rate.
