Capital One: With Capital One you have three choices. They have cards for the professional and then cards that are standard for airline miles. They don’t offer an introductory rate with their cards. The annual percentage rate is going to be 13.90%. Depending on the card you choose there could be an annual fee. For the professional card there is a 39 dollar fee, but for the rewards card there is no fee. They allow balance transfers. You must have excellent credit standing in order to apply for the cards or you will be declined. Typically with the Capital One card you earn 1.25 miles per dollar and up to 2 miles per dollar with the professional card.
HSBC offers a cash or fly rewards Master Card. This card has an introductory period of 12 months with zero percent. You can get as low as 8.99% for the interest rate depending on your credit. They will approve anyone with good credit. There is no annual fee. For every dollar you spend you earn a mile. There are no blackout dates and you get to redeem as little as 7500 points for round trip airfare depending on where you are going to be flying. For the cash back you receive 1% if that is your choice. You must qualify according to their terms and conditions to apply.
Blue Sky American Express is another credit card with airline miles rewards. This card is one of the most popular in recent years. They offer an introductory rate of zero percent for six months. The rate is going to be the current prime rate plus 4.99%. So if the prime rate is 5% then you are going to be awarded 9.99% interest. They ask for excellent credit and will not deal with anyone below that mark. There is no annual fee and they do allow balance transfers. The American Express is a hard card to obtain.
There are going to be other cards that are difficult to obtain as well. You just need to look out for the terms and conditions to make sure you can earn the flight miles in a decent amount of time and redeem them.
